  • Above And Below

    • 1.

Perception and interpretation are not above reality. Opinion or belief are not above truth. Speaking is not above listening. Acquired knowledge or intelligence are not above insightful awareness. Status or ambition are not above honour. Complexity is not necessarily above simplicity. Age is not above understanding or experience. Traditions, conformity, conditioning and convention are not above present-day awareness, and the innate freedom of the mind and soul. Political correctness is not above natural respect or responsibility. Busy-ness is not above being present. Holding on to anger or upset is sooner or later not above forgiveness. Fault-finding is not above kindness-finding. Being right is not above the sharing of insights and responsibility. Certainty is not necessarily above truth. Nationality and religion are not above humanity. Contempt and judgmentalness are not above compassion. Killing and violence are not above life. The past or future are not above the fullness of the present, and neither is time above presence. Destiny is not above free will, yet free will is not above the truth of reality. And civilisation is not necessarily above the coherence of nature.

  • Absolute Certainty

    • 1.

The common element in enlightenment experiences appears to be the absolute certainty of the loving benevolence, transcendence, infinite unity, and eternity behind all existence. Whenever we experience absolute certainty in our lives, we have this same knowing. For example when we are totally in love, or when we are joyfully flowing with life, we are set free from our cares and fears. These are perhaps small experiences of enlightenment. Our absolute certainty at these times is indicative of the enlightenment path. When we are absolutely certain of our inner love, of our reason for being, and for the existence of a bountiful creation, we are living enlightened.

  • Absolutism

    • 1.

Are the absolutisms expressed in our language, thoughts, or beliefs, whether they are negative absolutisms or positive absolutisms, really helpful to our understanding? Or are they more to do with our inflated ego opinion and its particular prejudices?

  • Abundance

    • 1.

We cannot have everything, and therefore what we do have, is currently more valuable, than all of the things we don’t have. With this in mind, we could probably be more appreciative of those things we do have.

  • Accentuate

    • 1.

In nature’s pre-civilisation environment, certain elements or features were naturally accentuated or given prominence. Those elements and features assisted in survival for human beings, and generally pointed towards a more coherent way to live. Such elements and features included the sun and moon, light and dark, fire, shelter, animals, birds, fish, water, flowers, fruits, eyes, mouth, hands, breasts and genitals. It also included friendly or unfriendly features to be aware of, such as markings, tastes, fragrances, and sounds. However, in a post-civilised world, what was previously and naturally accentuated, is often overlooked. Other things are now highlighted, such as artificial light and sounds, time, work, money, status, fame, fashion, unnatural food and drugs, inharmonious sounds and incoherent views, cosmetic and surgical enhancements, and screen technologies. Yet in a nod to the coherence and harmonising effects of nature, we have created artificial environments with plastic flowers, in-house aquariums and aviaries, with recorded sounds of nature. Obviously some of the inventions of humanity have helped us to progress. But the further removed we are from our accentuated primordial roots, the more likely we will create artificial variations that will probably make us sick and disconnected to life, each other, and even to…read more…

  • Acceptance

    • 1.

Being accepted and the ease we experience in the presence of another, are usually established in the first moments of interaction. It is important that we approach others with a healthy self-acceptance already in place.

  • Accident

    • 1.

In examining the root cause of many accidents, we will usually discover a lack of awareness occurring beforehand, because of a drift into a non-thinking, subconscious habit of mind. (Please see the contemplation on Subconscious number 9).

  • Accusation

    • 1.

One of the dangers of being accused, is that the more we self-justify, the more we can dig into our expression of ego. And the more we dig into our ego, the more separated we become from our accusers, and consequently their tendency would be to view us as being all the more guilty. When accused, the foremost requirement is to remember to keep faith with our true nature.

  • Achilles Heel

    • 1.

The forces of balance inherent in life will sooner or later find our Achilles heel, in order that we may have awareness of it, give it attention, seek understanding, and finally bring healing.

  • Acknowledgement

    • 1.

To truly acknowledge another human being, is to acknowledge the fundamental truth of their existence. It is the supreme welcome we all deeply desire. However if others do not acknowledge us, we need to remember that our observer soul is an ongoing witness.
