All of life can be viewed as either a metaphor of the ego, or true nature with observer soul. And all that occurs can be seen as a direct or indirect revelation of both. With this understanding we may live more fully in grace and awareness.

The arcane and metaphysical sciences such as astrology, divination, chiromancy, alchemy and so on, appear to exist for the guidance and tempering of the personal ego. These sciences are metaphysical only in that they may help lead the ego to its home.

Fundamentally the rationale or in-built motive of the mind, appears to be towards raising consciousness or awareness. And therefore an evolving mind is probably present in anything that has consciousness or awareness.

Sitting at night outside a street-side restaurant on our daughter’s sixteenth birthday. Seeing the light of a friend’s phone illuminating her face. The dark green shadow leaves of a tree overhanging our table. Lights of the inside ceiling reflecting upon a wineglass. The inviting aroma and warmth of pizza close at hand. Vehicles projecting their headlights to the left and to the right, as they drive upon a road built by workers who would not know of our gathering tonight. Chattering sounds of dear friends enjoying their conversations heated by the warmth of a gas burner. And then on the speaker, my favourite, most heart-rending soul song, “Whats going on” by Marvin Gaye. Such an infinite bounty, a miracle of existence, freely offered before us in this singular moment. All created, invented, built, composed, maintained or grown, to allow us our celebration. The buildings, roads, phones, power and lights, music, food, water and wine, for all of the assembled souls here at this precise point, in an eternity of time. What a supreme blessing of simple, unadorned, innocent truths.

If we do not actively focus the loving energy of our true nature into a mirror, it will reflect a less energised or even perhaps a depressed state. However, we often somehow expect a mirror to reflect a happier or higher state than we are experiencing. Ultimately, what we portray to others and to life, is dependent upon how much we want to radiate of ourselves to the world.

Most misunderstandings between people are unintentional, and created out of ignorance of the other person’s perspective. Yet we often blame the other person as though they had intentionally created a conflict.

Our deepest truth, appears to be that each of us (behind our earthly human appearance) are highly intelligent, compassionately aware beings, on a mission of love and truth, from the source or centre of the universe, through the centre of our being.

Humanity would not have progressed without the revelations of mistakes. A mistake is a deviation, a missed step, an oversight, a slip-up that allows us to see other possibilities and return us to ourselves with a more rounded view.

Being misunderstood by others automatically puts us back into our own hands, that we may not only see our ego’s loneliness in being misunderstood, but also hopefully reconnect with the deeper understanding of our unity with all, regardless of what happens in the current yet passing external reality.
