The driving force of a cynical attitude can arise in anyone that has perhaps unsuccessfully attempted to dominate the world in which they live. This is usually a form of egomania, with the desire to place themselves above others. Their failure results in a self-perpetuating, distrusting, contemptuous, pessimistic, disbelieving, selfish and sarcastic view of the world.
