At those times we experience a sudden loss or unexpected life change, with an accompanying soul-searing vulnerability that reveals just how fragile, powerless and perishable we are, we may also realise that something very profound is occurring. We are awakening to a deeper, non-judgmental view of the precious vulnerability in humanity all around us. And we may feel a deeper connection and gratitude towards others and to life than we ever had before.
