The lack of awareness around immortality in our present society, whether physical, mental or spiritual, is perhaps, not so much a lack of knowledge, but more the lack of things already potentially available. Such as a lack of connection to our true nature, as well as to the nature of earth, and from this a consequent lack of understanding about life, as well as love, truth and innocence.
